Dionne Phelps
Dionne Phelps is a former college basketball coach who has successfully transitioned into the world of real estate investing. With a Bachelor’s degree Physical Education and a Master’s degree in Health Education, Dionne devoted over 30 years to shaping young athletes at both the collegiate and preparatory levels. During his tenure, he was known for his strategic acumen, fostering team cohesion, and developing players both on and off the court. Notably, he guided several young men in achieving their ultimate dreams of becoming first round draft picks in the NBA.
Despite his success in coaching, Dionne felt a growing desire to explore new challenges and opportunities beyond the basketball arena. His interest in real estate was sparked during his coaching years, where he witnessed firsthand the impact of community development on student-athletes and their families. With a keen interest in investment strategies and market trends, he took a leap of faith, enrolling in real estate courses and attending workshops to deepen his knowledge of the industry.
As a real estate investor, Dionne primarily focuses on residential properties, including single-family homes and multi-unit buildings. His coaching background equipped him with valuable skills in leadership, analysis, and communication—skills he now applies to his investment strategies. Dionne thrives on identifying undervalued properties, transforming them into desirable living spaces, and creating sustainable housing for first time home buyers and renters.
In addition to his investment ventures, Dionne is passionate about mentoring aspiring real estate investors, particularly student-athletes looking to break into the industry. Instead of spending long hours recruiting athletes for the purpose of representing universities in their pursuit of championships, he now finds himself serving as a consultant sharing his insights and experiences to help others navigate the complexities of real estate investing. His commitment to education and empowerment reflects his coaching philosophy: fostering growth, resilience, and success in every endeavor.
Outside of his professional life, Dionne enjoys spending time with his family, staying active through fitness, and volunteering in local youth sports programs. His journey from college basketball coach to real estate investor exemplifies his belief that with determination, adaptability, and a strong support network, anyone can achieve their dreams, no matter the field.
